What to expect?
Energy, ideas, discussion. From modest beginnings in early 2021, Travel by B Corp has become the community for travel related B Corps in the UK. From four to 40 certified members it finds itself at the heart of a movement. We are also at an inflection point. To make the most of the opportunity we need to tread carefully. The group itself has fantastic, smart and engaged members but how do we harness that energy and stop it dissipating or getting buried under our ‘day jobs’? Our executive group is up for re-election, we co-chairs have served our maximum term. How do we balance continuity with fresh energy? This session is firmly routed in practical action and ideas. Give & take.
Why join this session?
To learn and to share. By collaborating in our own vertical Travel by B Corp is trying to establish ‘the thing’ which can move the dial in travel and which is common to us all and which transcends competition. As more and more companies in an ever greater range of industry verticals certify as B Corps, we each find ourselves tasked with making B Corp meaningful beyond our four walls. Although the B Corp community is a great thing, beyond some shared fundamentals and values, what certification can and should mean in the travel space is quite different to what it means for the creative industry or manufacturing. These same challenges are presumably shared by B Local groups. We want to share the experiences of Travel by B Corp in our journey so far. We want to hear about other collaborations existing or proposed. We want to know how we can help each other avoid inevitable pitfalls and share bright spots.
What are the key outcomes?
Ideally, if the demand is there, to create an informal network of the leaders of B Corp collectives/collaborations. Its purpose would be to host bi-annual Ask & Offer sessions at which members take the floor to share bright spots or problems with a view to the group workshopping an answer. An informal support group or non-executive steering group if you will…
